Setup & Installation

Get Hyperborea running on your NordicTrack in a few minutes. This guide walks you through account creation, APK installation, device linking, and verification.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A NordicTrack bike, treadmill, or rower with an Android-based touchscreen console (2019 or newer models)
  • A reliable Wi-Fi network that the console can connect to
  • An active Hyperborea subscription (sign up at hyperborea.app)

Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Go to hyperborea.app in your browser.
  2. Click Register and enter your email address and a password.
  3. Confirm your email if prompted.
  4. Once logged in, you'll land on your Dashboard.

Step 2: Subscribe

  1. From the Dashboard, click Subscribe.
  2. Choose your plan and complete payment through Stripe.
  3. Your subscription activates immediately. You can now download the Hyperborea APK.

Step 3: Install the APK on Your NordicTrack Console

  1. On your Dashboard, find the Download APK button and note the download URL.
  2. On your NordicTrack console, open the built-in web browser. If your console does not have a browser shortcut, you can access one through the Android settings or by sideloading a file manager.
  3. Navigate to the download URL and download the APK file.
  4. Open the downloaded APK to install it. If prompted, allow installation from unknown sources in the console's Android settings.
  5. Once installed, open the Hyperborea app from the console's app drawer.

Alternative: Sideload via USB

If the console browser is restricted:

  1. Download the APK to a computer from your Dashboard.
  2. Copy the APK file to a USB drive.
  3. Insert the USB drive into the console's USB port.
  4. Use a file manager on the console to locate and install the APK from the USB drive.

Step 4: Link Your Device

  1. Open the Hyperborea app on your NordicTrack console. A pairing code will be displayed on screen.
  2. In your browser, go to your Dashboard at hyperborea.app.
  3. Click Link Device.
  4. Enter the pairing code shown on the console and confirm.
  5. The console and your account are now linked.

Step 5: Verify the Connection

Once linking is complete:

  • The console app will show a "Connected" status.
  • Open your preferred fitness app (Zwift, Wahoo, Rouvy, etc.) on your phone, tablet, or computer.
  • Scan for Bluetooth devices in the fitness app. Your NordicTrack should appear as an FTMS-compatible device.
  • Select it and start a workout to confirm that metrics like power, cadence, and speed are being transmitted.

Auto-Updates

The Hyperborea APK updates automatically while your subscription is active and the console has a Wi-Fi connection. You do not need to manually download new versions. Updates install in the background and take effect the next time you open the app.
